German Shepherds need plenty of socialising. Regular outings to the shopping centre and to meet people and other dogs are most important if your dog is to develop into a well adjusted, happy individual. Obedience training is recommended. If you take your dog in the car, ensure adequate ventilation whilst travelling. DO NOT leave your dog in the car unattended. If he cannot go out with you then leave him at home.
As a puppy, he will run around your yard and play sufficiently for exercise. Gradually introduce him to being taken for walks. Let him enjoy it and sniff and examine all the little odds and ends that attract his attention. Don't over exercise your pup as this can contribute to other problems such as hip dysplasia and osteochondritis, as can him being over weight.
